This was forwarded to me from a friend, composed by a friend of a friend…..
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NIV
Further up, “I will not fail you or abandon you” Joshua 1:5
Granted, Joshua’s situation was a bit different than we are facing: he was given the task of taking over for Moses and after 40 years, continuing the dream of living in a world of milk and honey. Hmm – maybe our situation isn’t that different as we look forward to a life of milk and honey.
God has a way of directing us to scripture whether in the Old or New Testament that we can relate to. I must admit that I’m not terrified as my only job is to stay isolated. My job is made easy by good neighbors and grocery delivery. However, I think of those on the front line that work so hard and afraid they may bring this virus home to their loved ones, the young families that live paycheck to paycheck normally and now are out of work; or think of the homeless that can’t wash their hands in warm water for 20 seconds. I also pray for the small businesses that have such a small profit line to begin with. Will they be able to open again? Of course, we can’t forget those and pray for the families that have witnessed the death of a loved one due to Covid-19.
God promises that he will never abandon us or fail to help us. By asking God to direct us we can conquer many of life’s challenges. Just remember to take your fears to God.
Rather than closing with a prayer, I will end with a quote from Corrie Ten Boom.
“In the center of a hurricane there is absolute quiet and peace. There is no safer place than in the center of the will of God”
Shalom
