Psalm 57:1
Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me,
for in you I take refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
until the disaster has passed.
As we continue to see new holidays and new days of remembrance approach and arrive – in light of what we are experiencing, these days take on new meanings.
Today, on National Day of Prayer – we might be planning on attending a prayer gathering at the Jackson Municipal Building with members of other faith groups coming together as one to pray for each other, our city, our country and world.
Lately, I have felt God’s Spirit prompting me to pray often. I don’t know about you, but I feel like this virus has drawn a circle around myself and my family, my churches, and my loved ones – and the circle feels like it is closing in.
I pray that you all would have confidence today, in this moment, that God is with you. My prayer for all of you is that you are confident in knowing that God is here to strengthen and comfort you.
God is here to answer our prayers – and wants to show us His love while we wait. Take comfort in God’s refuge as we wait on him. Pray often, as God prompts us to. He hears our prayers and is faithful to answer them.
I’ve included a song that I wrote many years ago, when I was struggling in my faith. I can tell you, that God answered my prayers then, and continues to answer them now.
God bless you today, as you take comfort in Him,
Denise
