~ Psalm 23:2-3 ~
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
I have often felt since the beginning of this pandemic here in our country, that while life has slowed down greatly – my heart and my spirit have been in desperate need of rest. I will set time aside for God to pray and read the Bible, but I cannot keep my mind from racing. I struggle thinking “I need to be doing something”, as if spending time with God was nothing.
Friends, do you find yourself feeling angry as you’re watching the news? Do you find yourself tired of talking to people who do not share your feelings about – things? Are you tired of worrying and living in fear?
Is your soul just tired?
I think more than ever, I have become very aware of what it feels like to feel tired in my heart and soul. I have also become very aware of God wanting to give my soul rest.
Remember how Jesus would wake up early to go be with God. Remember also – how Mary chose to sit at Jesus’ feet and be fed by the words he spoke, while her sister Martha ran around trying to be “productive”.
Let’s pray:
Lord, we come to you, confessing that we are tired in our souls. Lord, we thank you for your great love for us – and we want to live and move and be who you are calling us to be. We want to be free of the anger, frustration and fear we are struggling with.
Send us your Holy Spirit today, so that we can find our rest, comfort, and strength in you alone. Dear Jesus, it’s in your name we pray. Amen.
