A Future And A Hope
Sunday, August 30
Text: Jeremiah 29:11
Topic(s): God’s Sovereignty, Future, Hope, Trust
Big Idea: We take this verse out of context when we believe that God will allow only good things to happen to us. Looking at it in context reveals that it is a promise of delayed relief to those deep in suffering, not a promise that we will never encounter suffering.
Application: When we read promises out of context, we believe God has failed us when life proves as challenging as it often is. When we read in context, we realize
that God’s faithfulness transcends our suffering, that we can persevere through
suffering by the strength of his presence.
