On February 8 during the 9 AM worship service, DeBows is pleased to welcome the newly formed Pine Barren Boys bluegrass band, fresh from Albert Hall’s pickin’ shed; Jim Kramer, banjo (also a Libby Prison Minstrels band member, who has previously blessed DeBows with his banjo, guitar, chimes and vocals); Larry, bass; and George, fiddle & harmonica (a lake effect snow refugee to NJ originally from upstate NY, and a former professional touring opera singer, who has returned to his bluegrass roots).
They will be joining Vicky Kushnir, mandolin (also a LPM band member who has previously blessed DeBows with her playing and singing), Teresa (mandolin & fiddle), Bonnie (guitar), Guy (vocals), Regina (guitar) and Grayce (dulcimer, keyboard & vocals) for a special time of sacred bluegrass & gospel music.
The worship service will open with the song “Ring the Bell” – when the lyrics says, “ring the bell” everybody rings their bell. Bells will be handed out to the congregation. If you have a favorite bell, feel free to bring it.
It is not often that we can assemble this much musical talent on the same Sunday and it should make for a very uplifting worship experience. So, if you know anybody that’s a fan of bluegrass & gospel music, please invite them to come, bring their bell, ring, sing along and enjoy the music. There will also be a Fellowship Time in Fellowship Hall following the service, with light refreshments.
